1st & 2nd Week!!!

Times hasn't stopped yet! We are already into our second week and I'm amazed at how well my young artists are doing and how I've made my lessons some what harder...but enjoyable for the students!

 Our first art project was designing our names including at least one or two Elements of Art!

Already #1 

My Word Palette is coming along.  I'm placing grade level coded post-it notes next to each word they are leaning.

 

I'm also trying something new this year.  I'm having students fill in the boxes, eventually they would write or fill in the blank for each line, but I'm thinking it's too much for 1-2 maybe just 3-4.

I also think, I OVER planned for this week.  I have to remember ART CLASS should be fun.  I think the standards got to me a little bit.

2013 Art Year

New school!!! It's great when you really enjoy what you're doing 2 years in a row. I miss people but I've met so many new friends that I feel life can't get any better at this moment. 

Going into my sixth year, it's been 6 years wow! To think, I almost quit my first middle school position because of gang fights and being completing unaware of urban settings/lifestyles. (I wish I would have kept my journals, but I just wanted to forget but looking back...it made me a strong teacher. ) 

All the hard work and great people I've met along the way has made me appreciate the job I have this year. If you are having a rough year, hang in there because every experience will make you stronger if you stay positive.

I am really excited about this hallway display I'm creating... 'What type of artist are you?' I was inspired by another teacher's poster of, 'what type of student do you want to be?'

Making Signs!

I have decided to hand make a lot of my posters for this year. One down and many to go.

This sign will hang outside next to my door.

This is my Rule sign that will hang in my classroom. I still need to work on the border but everything is coming along.

Fixing Up the Classroom!

Let me start off by saying, I have the best husband in the world! He helped me rearrange my cabinets today and move tables around. Love HIM!

Organization is the key for me. When everything has a place and is arranged neatly, life just flows smoother. Below are a few pictures of lasts years many layouts and my new one for thisyear. I'm still puzzled what to do about two bookshelves that I use to hold projects.
