This will be my new kindergarten project for identifying colors and creating a collage. I was visting with another art teacher and she did this project and I've been thinking about it ever since!

Changing Directions with LINES!

Students learned about different types of lines and using their imagination.

We used line printing
tools to create an imaginary place that they would love to go.

I'm not sure how I want to finish this project. Here is a finished example from last year.

Giacometti!

We looked at the artist Giacometti and created foil figures. Students added modeling clay for shoes to allow their figures to stand.

One student had the idea to stamp his own shoe design on the bottom of the clay.

From here we will draw Keith Haring's simplified figures.

Kinders - Keith Haring!

Today's project was very exciting! Kindergartners looked at Keith Haring's 'dancing figures'. We discussed rhythmic lines, shapes, the figure and overlapping. Students picked out their back ground color and received a long rectangle with a pre-cut head. Students tore rectangles for arms and legs and a large one for the body. I gave students the option of tearing the elbow and knee to show more 'movement' from their figure. Students were also encourage to add 'rhythmic lines'.

A Bad Case of Stripes!

2nd Grade Self- Portraits

This week 2nd graders will be watching the narration of The Bad Case of Stripes By David Shannon. The website www.storylineonline.net has different celebrities that narrate different stories.

I also plan on using When Pigasso met Mootisse for K and Sophie's Masterpiece for weaving projects for 1st.

Flat File!

I found this flat file at our school's warehouse and I can't wait to paint it!

Last year, I used bookshelves to hold all the artwork and used labels by class and grade level. The problem was other students would either touch or move the papers. With the flat file, everything stays where I put it!

The 1st week of art!!!

The first week of school was great! All 22 classes!!

This year I want to begin organized. I'm very proud of my word wall this year that I spent 4 days making.

You can see the words below and above the paper. I made sure to write the grade level on the back of each.

The 5th graders are doing awesome on their project 'falling into space'. I found many bloggers that did this project so I had to try! I'll post more about it when the projects are finished.

Classroom!

I am really excited about this hallway display I'm creating... 'What type of artist are you?' I was inspired by another teacher's poster of, 'what type of student do you want to be?'

I will add questions or comments above and below the reproductions.

Making Signs!

I have decided to hand make a lot of my posters for this year. One down and many to go.

This sign will hang outside next to my door.

This is my Rule sign that will hang in my classroom. I still need to work on the border but everything is coming along.

Fixing Up the Classroom!

Let me start off by saying, I have the best husband in the world! He helped me rearrange my cabinets today and move tables around. Love HIM!
Organization is the key for me. When everything has a place and is arranged neatly, life just flows smoother. Below are a few pictures of lasts years many layouts and my new one for thisyear. I'm still puzzled what to do about two bookshelves that I use to hold projects.
