Build your own PLAYGROUND!

1st graders created their background first using crayon. We discussed horizon line, clouds, putting the sun some where else besides the corner, collage and geometric vs. organic shapes.

Students picked out their own colors of
construction paper, cut out their shapes and began constructing their fabulous playgrounds.

I really like this idea. I may steal this lesson and use it with my first graders.

steal away Holly! If I could change anything, it would be the paper size. I also wanted to include a collaged on self-portrait, but I think for this first year they turned out okay.
