This was a very interesting project and I couldn't have done it without the help of The Clay Lady. I took her teacher workshop back in the fall of 2010 and tried to give kiln clay another go. Students learned about the history of clay and vocabulary, watched her DVD Mask Project, drew their mask design, had a day to practice making modeling clay and I showed the video again....:-) then on kiln clay day, they followed along with the video and created their masks. Some students ventured out and made their own designs and then some became creative with the clay paints.

3rd - Clay Masks
